Business Plan Sections

In preparing a green business plan, off-the-shelf templates and software almost always fall short of the mark.  For example, they commonly neglect important sections and sub-sections needed, such as those addressing exit strategy and risk factors. Each section of your green business plan needs to be complete and detailed, yet concise and to the point. Also, each section needs to be well-integrated with the rest of the document. For example, does your green marketing plan include a competitive analysis? Does it address market share and market penetration subsections? Does it complement the revenue and related expense assumptions in your forecasts?  Each section needs to stand on its own, yet support and be consistent with the contents of other sections.  Plus, you need a great Executive Summary to get you in the door, as few want to review a lengthy plan until interested.

To understand needed green business plan sections, relative to the size and scope of the plan, please see the following links and pages:

This is not an all-inclusive list of plan sections, as presentation varies depending on the type of business, e.g. a website-based firm versus a manufacturing company, or a company utilizing a new technology versus an established technology.  An eco-company and its green business plan will have different needs and sections, like “Our Products” or “Our Services.”
